Frequently Asked Questions

How long does counseling usually last? The length of counseling varies depending on the individual and their specific needs. Some people may need only a few sessions, while others may require ongoing support for several months or longer. Our therapists will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your unique needs and goals.

How often will we meet? While no two individuals or couples are alike, scheduling regular weekly sessions for at least 4 – 6 weeks and probably longer is expected.  After that, if you choose to move to a bi-weekly schedule, you’re welcome to do that (if a bi-weekly spot is available on your therapist’s schedule that works for you). We do not schedule monthly appointments (for example, the first Monday of every month) as this creates conflicts with other regularly scheduled appointments, but we can occasionally accommodate a once-every-4-weeks schedule, if your therapist's availability allows. Understanding that you will get the best results from our sessions together if you stay consistent and actively participate in the process is essential.

Are our sessions confidential? Except in limited circumstances, the confidentiality of all communications between a client and therapist/counselor is protected under law, and no information will be disclosed outside the practice without written consent.  Limitations of such client-held privilege of confidentiality include suspected child abuse, suspected elder abuse, or instances where a client threatens or attempts to seriously harm themselves or cause grave bodily harm or death to another person.  And in couples therapy, we treat the couple as “the client” and will not keep secrets between the two partners.

How do I schedule an appointment? To schedule an appointment with one of our counselors, please fill out the contact form on this site (under the CONTACT tab) or you may call or text us at 918-691-1435, or you may email us as well - [email protected]. Our friendly staff will be happy to assist you in finding the right counselor and scheduling an appointment that works for you.

What is your cancellation policy?Twenty-four-hour notice is required for the cancellation of an appointment. To avoid being charged a $100 late cancel/no-show fee, please text the practice at 918.691.1435 at least 24 hours in advance (your message will be timestamped) to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice or fail to show up, you will be charged a $100 fee for the appointment. This charge is NOT covered by insurance and you cannot use HSA or FSA funds for cancellation charges. Your charge will be applied to your credit card on file. Appointments missed because of serious or contagious illness or extreme weather or other unavoidable circumstance will not be subject to this fee.

Do you accept insurance? We accept many commercial insurance plans, however we are unable to accept Medicare or Medicaid plans. The practice is paneled as an in-network service provider for clients with 90 Degree Benefits, Aetna, Alliance Coal, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, HealthChoice, Healthcare Highways, Medica, Optum, Quiktrip, TARO/Mending, United Healthcare, UMR (there may be a few others not listed here). We do not bill out-of-network, and we do not provide superbills for out-of-network insurance companies. You are responsible for your deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance, due at your appointment. Few policies cover 100% of the cost. Please understand that you are fully responsible understanding your coverage and for paying all fees for services allowed by your insurance policy.

Do you take insurance for couples therapy? No, we do not accept insurance for couples therapy or provide a mental health diagnosis when working with couples, so there is no way to submit to insurance for reimbursement. It is an investment in your most important relationship.

How much will I pay for therapy? There are many variables related to how much you will pay for therapy, such as what your insurance says your responsibility is, the frequency of appointments, and the length of time you are in therapy. A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is available for all clients, especially those using private pay. Please note that it is difficult to accurately estimate the length of therapy for any client as it depends on many factors, not within the scope or control of the therapist. It is always a good idea to call your insurance provider to find out your “behavioral health benefits” ahead of time, and to ensure that a course of therapy is financially sustainable for you before starting.
